Oil Spills LookBook

Here is my Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Oil Spills.

I never officially released it at the time, due to real life distractions, and the fact that after I sold most of the samples, I lost enthusiasm for the collection. This could be why the collection lacks the big crazy showpieces that are my personal bread and butter. Maybe at some point I might revisit the theme, and execute some of the more ambitious designs for it in my sketchbook, though chances are, I'll probably incorporate those into my next collections somehow.

Despite my never releasing the collection, this lookbook shoot was one of the most fun shoots I've ever done! Models, Hair and makeup were everything I could have asked for, and I regret that these photos were not more publicized.

Models: (in order of appearance) Nancy Ferris, Alexandria Blasi, and Allyson Patane.

Shoot with Leonid Gurevich

One of the awesome results of participating in NY Couture Fashion Week in February was being able to meet and work with Leonid Gurevich, a really wonderful stylist and designer. It is always great to meet someone with a similar aesthetic, and I can only hope to work with him many more times in the future!

Sample Sale!

I'm continuing to put up samples from my NY Couture Fashion Week show up in my online shop! There are also some nifty samples from prior fashion weeks as well.

Also, feel free to suggest in the comments what you might like to see me carry in my shop. I'm doing an overhaul of my stock and my brand, and I would love to know what types of things people expect from me as a designer!

New Collection!

For the first time I have designed a very small collection of ready to wear clothing, to be released with the Resort/holiday 2013 season in June!

Here are some photos of a vest piece I draped yesterday. I drape with scrap fabric, since I tend not to want to spend the money on muslin, hence the bright blue color.

I plan to make it in many different color ways, with lots of different details.

More news on the theme I'm going with soon! I'll probably do a whole post on why the heck I'm doing a theme that might seem so out of the ordinary for me.

But for now, ogle at this vest pattern!! Long for it! And when I release it for sale, tell all your friends, neighbors, grandmas, local baristas and postal workers of the wonder that is this sleeveless jacket!

One of my Favorite Designers

After Alexander McQueen, my favorite designer is Colleen Atwood. She designs costumes, and has done the costumes for my two favorite movies: Sleepy Hollow, and Series of Unfortunate Events.

I don't usually post about other people on my blog unless I'm working with them, or have some other direct connection, but Style.com had an amazing article on her, and I thought I'd share one of the artists who has most influenced me over the years.

Hiking

Sometimes, the only thing I want to do with my day is wander around the woods. A couple days ago, I took a walk at the Delaware Water Gap, and saw some awesome animals up close.

New Hairdo!

Sometimes, life enters a time of transformation and rejuvenation. I starting to switch things up so I can focus more on my creative work, and less on the 87 part time jobs that I seem to succumb to when financial panic sets in.

To celebrate the occasion, I went to see my good friend Michelle Donnelly at Hair to Dye For in Easton, PA. She is the only person I trust to do anything near my hair!
Here are some fun process photos!

Ladies and gentlemen, my hair now gives me the ability to be seen from space!
